Alexander Albrecht

Melbourne improviser, Alexander Albrecht, modernises the classic jazz format while walking ambient music through the rainforest and down to the shore. Absorbing Australia’s landscape to craft enlightened, on the fly performances that are never to be missed and never to be repeated.
He has released music to great acclaim for New York’s Scissor & Thread, San Diego’s Bouquet Records and his own Analogue Attic imprint. He also writes music alongside Sean La’Brooy as part of Albrecht La’Brooy, who has appeared on Apollo Records, Night Tide, Voyage Recordings and Butter Sessions.
His music has led him to play at such local institutions as Melbourne Town Hall, Rippon Lea Estate, The Robin Boyd Foundation, The National Gallery of Victoria, The PS Art Gallery in Fremantle, Melbourne State Library, Melbourne Film Festival at The Forum Theatre, M Pavilion at Queen Victoria Gardens, Montsalvat, Collingwood Arts Precinct, Mission to Seafarers and the Swell Music Festival at Fort Nepean (Mornington Peninsula) where he often is responsible for performing music that responded to the immediate surroundings.
Abroad, Alex has graced the stage at Bassiani in Georgia, MAP Festival in Moscow, Public Records and Output in New York, Vent in Tokyo, OHM in Berlin, Giant Steps in London, Het Magazijn in The Hague, XX in Manila, Pickle in Miami and many more.
With his label having over 19 releases internationally, his music has been reviewed and recognised by such media outlets as The Age, Broadsheet, Stamp the Wax, XLR8R, Beat Magazine, Resident Advisor and Concrete Playground
