Clare Cousins established Melbourne practice Clare Cousins Architects in 2005. Engaged in projects large and small, the practice has delivered a diverse range of celebrated buildings and interior spaces including housing, workplace, and cultural projects.

Acknowledging the social potential of architecture to nurture community, their projects are born from empathetic readings of the places in which they reside. The practice is recognised by their determination in finding solutions that balance the architectural, economic, and ecological factors that all contribute to a sustainable and joyful built environment. Increasingly, the office is working on larger residential projects that focus on improving the diversity and accessibility of housing in the community.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
