Dr Amanda Roff

Dr Amanda Roff is musician and creative research scholar living on the traditional lands of the Taungurung people in Nagambie central Victoria, and the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation in Naarm/Melbourne.

Her career is founded on the collective power of art and music in community. From a background in DIY punk and youth theatre in Muloobinba/Newcastle NSW, she has dedicated the last 20 years to making and supporting independent music as an ethos and a creative space.

Her PhD used poetic investigation to explore the metaphysical aspects of sound and music using Greek mythology.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
