Dr Indigo Willing

Dr Indigo Willing (she/her) is a sociologist, writer and community volunteer. She currently lives in Meanjin on the land of the Jagera and Turrbal Peoples. Her latest research explores skateboarding, youth and subcultures, and examines issues of power, spaces and places, social change and representation. As an advocate on social inclusion and being guided by both research and lived experiences, she also creates bridges between a number of social worlds that reflect her own diverse background as a Vietnam War orphan and adoptee, an Asian Australian creative, academic and skateboarder. She is the project leader and co-founder of Consent is Rad, an international violence prevention campaign in skating and co-founder of We Skate QLD which connects people who love skateboarding, art, music, fashion and socialising in spaces dedicated to promoting inclusion.
