Emma Joughin

For more than 15 years, Emma Joughin has had her hand on the heartbeat of urban habitats and what makes our communities thrive. With a background in human geography and sustainability, she is firmly rooted in spatial data and geographic information systems (GIS). In 2015 Emma co-founded the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) Communications Network, a group of Australian communications experts, working to promote research impacts and secure ongoing investment in the eInfrastructure needed to solve Australia’s greatest challenges. As marketing and communications coordinator for the Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN), Emma supports researchers and promotes the impact of their work.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
