Espresso Depresso

Aptly named for their crippling coffee addiction and heavy heart, Espresso Depresso emerges from small town Yackandandah into the Aussie music scene. Naarm-based front woman, Emma Clark, introduces herself as a human in process, ever growing and learning.

Drawing from life’s biggest falters, she captures each story at a specific point in time, the precise moment your heart stops. From learning the harsh truths of family, to taking a man’s virginity and never getting a call back. Emma picks apart her coming-of-age years in a soulful blend of folk, funk, and whimsy, grounded in the presence of wild power.

Admitting to her delusional nature, she welcomes the overwhelming moments of self realisation, redirecting this overflow into the candid lyrics heard today.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
