Gyungju Chyon

Gyungju Chyon is a lecturer in Spatial Design at Monash University. Prior to Monash, she was an Assistant Professor of MFA Industrial Design and BFA Product Design at Parsons School of Design In New York. Her work explores alternative ways of considering ecological issues by focusing on the relationships between designed things and environments. Through engaging natural phenomena and experimenting with materiality, she is interested in seeking deeper and more meaningful connections with our world. Working between installations and product design, Little Wonder has collaborated with international companies such as Rosenthal (DEU), Interface (USA), Duravit (DEU), Emotis (FRA), and Lucifer Lighting (USA). The work has been internationally awarded and exhibited in Europe, America and Asia.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
