Jessica Watson

Jess’ role is Experience Direction + Creation at FreeState. Before joining their Melbourne team, she carved out a career in place branding, which took her from London to Shanghai. But wherever she calls home, Jess has always been inspired and fascinated by the culture that surrounds her, and a love of storytelling comes naturally to her work. Whether crafting a business strategy or creating a unique experience – it’s all about tapping into something authentic.

These days, Jess is driven by defining best practise in transdisciplinary design across identity + environment disciplines. She is also a guest speaker at Swinburne University’s Branded Environments discipline.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
