Jillian is the owner of Captain Darling Barbershop. Jill opened 5 years ago, her vision was to create a safe and inclusive space for everyone. She now has three employees, and a waiting list as long as Bell St! Jill is passionate about creating welcoming spaces for communities that don’t always feel welcome in mainstream salons. Captain Darling prides itself on being a safe space for the queer community, non-binary folks, trans people, neurodiverse people, as well as the hetero family down the road. Captain Darling is a classic example of “be the change you want to see”

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
