Lynn Jacob

South Indian, Melbourne-based vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Lynn Jacob borrows from Southeast Asian and Western musical palettes, composing melodic, Gothic pop-folk fairytales. She explores themes of isolation, love, connection, rage, and feminism; often turning traditional gender tropes on their head in playful and satirical ways. Lynn is a 2020 Jewel Box Grant recipient and is currently working on her immersive one-woman show ‘Sensory’. Past projects include recording for musicians Heather Fiona, The Great Emu War Casualties, Matt Henry, and the Western Sun Music Project. A trained jeweller, when not working on artistic projects, Lynn teaches financial education for a Not-For-Profit.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
