Neil Appleton

Neil Appleton is a design director of Lyons, co-leading its discursive approach to designing public sector projects across Australia; a creative coalescence of ideas – building cultural meaning in the visual world through design research about the City and in respect of Country – guiding the development and design of Lyons’ projects. Neil led the design of Yagan Square in Perth for the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority and most recently the Bendigo GovHub for Development Victoria, involving a collaborative design process with Dja Dja Wurrung. Lyons also designed the Koorie Heritage Trust in collaboration with Jefa Greenaway (Wailwan|Kamilaroi), Director – IADV and Greenaway Architects.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
