Nicky Hayes

Nicky Hayes is a proud Arrernte man, Traditional Owner for the Ltyentye Apurte/Santa Teresa community in the NT, skateboarder, youth worker and the founder of Spinifex Skateboards; a First Nations skateboarding company supporting youth engagement through Indigenous art and culture and skate workshops. In 2016, Nicky advocated getting the first indoor skatepark of it’s kind built in a remote community in Central Australia and now, among many other things, is aiming to get an outdoor park built for the community by the end of this year. Through the success of Spinifex Skateboards, Nicky Hayes wishes to give back to his community in many ways by sharing his passion through country, culture and lifestyle.

Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation.
