Stephen Webb

Lucan Allen

Well-known creative thinker and architect, Stephen Webb believes that nature-inspired integrated design is the way forward. An early advocate for sustainable architecture and biophilic design, his view is that the most compelling model for the buildings of today and the future is a design approach that considers buildings and urban environments as living organisms, evolving in response to climate and topography. As Design Director of Melbourne DesignInc, he has been instrumental in developing the practice’s integrated design philosophy. Through restorative design practices, Stephen engages the potential of the built environment to reconnect people and communities, with a keen ambition to advance sustainable practice in architecture and urban design.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
