Zoe Scoglio

Zoe Scoglio lives on unceded Dja Dja Wurrung Country in Central Victoria, and works across performance, video, sound and text in participatory, collaborative and site responsive ways. Often returning to the relationship between the human and geological, Zoe’s projects have taken the form of guided walks, ceremonial encounters, public choreographies and installations, in response to this planetary derangement of the Anthropocene/Capitalocene. Zoe is currently interested in the space of art as a site of collective study that engages the radical imagination and sensorial methods towards alternative ways of being and relating, and is interested in how dialogues between somatic and theoretical knowledge might cultivate a re-sensitisation towards our differentiated embeddedness within capitalist, colonial and planetary systems. Zoe has also worked in collaboration with communities and collectives including Tape Projects and Re::Set, as a video designer, and as a facilitator for time based and embodied artistic practices.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
