Across the network presents CALD CREATIVES MEET UP

Free!

This event is now complete. If you want to revisit the talk, visit our Library, or subscribe to the MPavilion podcast via iTunes, Pocketcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, or wherever else you get your podcasts.

Due to forecast extreme weather, todays meetup has been postponed. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES.

Are you a creative practitioner new to Melbourne? Come and join us for a drink, music and social connection!

One of the barriers that migrant creative practitioners commonly face is the lack of connection, and the feeling of having to start from scratch in building a network relevant to their practice and field of work. This meet-up aims to provide a space to discuss shared experiences of being on the ‘inside’, ‘outside’ or ‘around’ different creative industry niches as the ‘new kid on the block’.

We’ll spend time listening to the amazing sounds of the recorded Galnya Yakarrumdja echoing throughout MPavilion, and then catch up again in January with an afternoon of live music and DJs presented by Music in Exile.

Come and mingle, exchange ideas, and build networks.

In collaboration with

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
