To create the space for different approaches to how we plan and design our cities, we need to make the time to understand the lived experience of the city from multiple perspectives – including those of the city’s youngest users. Co-facilitated by Natalia Krysiak of Cities for Play with Cities People Love, this workshop is designed to explore children’s favourite memories within their neighbourhoods and enhance their understanding of the built environment. By drawing on their own observations, experiences and favourite memories of different places, children will be walked through the process to create their ideal child-friendly neighbourhood.
The workshop activities include a book reading and discussion, master planning of their city, then a (cardboard) building session before playtime in their city!
This event is part of the ‘Designing for ‘Average’ is average design’ series by Cities People Love. This workshop is suitable for children aged 4 – 12 years.
