DJ Sarah

DJ 101 is a DJ program for aspiring female-identifying, trans, and non-binary talent looking to break into the dance music scene. Facilitated by DJ Sarah, a familiar face in the Australian music industry—as half of duo IN2STELLAR and co-founder of WIP Project.

Aiming to take absolute beginners to gig-ready DJs, this six-week workshop covers the basics of DJing, digging for music, working with CDJs, beatmatching, and the ins and outs of the industry—all while giving each newbie the tools to enter the industry as a skilled and informed DJ/performer.

Each week will cover a different topic, with various industry guests stopping by to give us their take on DJing and some insight into their experience in the music industry.

The course will conclude with a final performance where the participants will showcase their learnings by playing a set. This will be open to the public—we’d love to see you there!

In collaboration with

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
