Join us for a special summer book club at MPavilion, ahead of the announcement of the 2022 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards.

Hear from an insightful and passionate lineup of writers and critics, including Ronnie Scott, Elizabeth Flux, Daniel James, Mark Brandi, Declan Fry and Michael McGirr, as they each make a case for one of the books shortlisted for the 2022 Prize for Fiction: After Story by Larissa Behrendt, Bodies of Light by Jennifer Down, Echolalia by Briohny Doyle, The Dogs by John Hughes, Smokehouse by Melissa Manning and Permafrost by S.J Norman. Then, the floor will be opened for you to share your own thoughts on the shortlist, and predict which book will take out the top prize.

Hosted by the convenor of the Prize for Fiction judging panel, Angela Meyer.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
